The stamp features the Battle of Vouillé. The battle was fought in the northern marches of Visigothic territory, at Vouillé, Vienne near Poitiers (Gaul), in the spring of 507 between the Franks commanded by Clovis and the Visigoths of Alaric II, the conqueror of Spain.

150th Anniversary of the Death of Henri Mouhot (1826-1861)

Henri Mouhot (May 15, 1826 — November 10, 1861) was a French naturalist and explorer of the mid-19th century. He was born in Montbéliard, Doubs, France, but spent his childhood in Russia and possibly, parts of Asia. He died near Naphan, Laos. He is remembered mostly in connection to Angkor.

300 Years of the Discovery of Clipperton Island

Clipperton Island is an uninhabited nine-square-kilometre (approx. 3.5-square-mile) coral atoll in the eastern Pacific Ocean, southwest of Mexico and west of Central America, at 10°18′N 109°13′W. It is an overseas possession of France under direct authority of the Minister of Overseas France.

French discoverer Michel DuBocage sailed out of Le Havre on 6 September 1707, and discovered the Clipperton Island on 3 April 1711. He mapped the island and named it Île de la Passion (Passion Island) because it was discovered on Good Friday.

A very beautiful French Year of Rabbit Miniature Sheet. The philatelic cancellation were nice too. It was very interesting that, the Miniature Sheet was issued on 10 January 2011, but the date shown on the philatelic postmark was 10 December 2010 ! Thank you very much to my friend.

A really nice postcard showing the famous Notre Dame Cathedral of Paris. I very much like Mother Teresa. My friend was so kind to affix a Mother Teresa stamp on the card. The pictoral postmark of Dijon is also nice too. Thank You very much to my friend !

France Cover - FIFA World Cup 2010

On the cover above, there is a very nice "FIFA World Cup 2010" Miniature Sheet, issued on 13 June 2010. The sheet contains 4 stamps each with a denomination of 0.85 Euros. The bottom of the souvenir sheet shows a landscape of savanna decorated with the 32 flags of the participating countries. Two of the four stamps illustrate with their way football, while the other two represent, for one the Parliament of Pretoria (administrative capital of South Africa), for the other a sight of the Cape Town (legislative capital of South Africa).

I was really happy when I got this unexpected surprise from my French friend. Very colourful design. You would simply love it even if you are not stamp collector. The cancellation were neat and nice too. Thank you very much to my friend.

A very beautiful postcard of the Amiens Cathedral (a World Heritage Site). It is the tallest of the large 'classic' Gothic churches of the 13th century and is the largest in France of its kind. On the back of the card, you can see 2 very nice odd-shaped Athens 2004 Olympic Games stamps. The pictoral postmark of Amiens is also nice too.

On the cover above, there is a very nice "European Capitals - Lisbon" Miniature Sheet, issued on 9 Nov 2009. The sheet contains 4 stamps each with a denomination of 0.56 Euros. The souvenir sheet shows various views of historic parts of Lisbon. In the upper left of the sheet one can see the Monastery of the Heironymites. Below this is a picture of the Belem Tower. At the bottom of the sheet we are shown the Monument to Discoveries. Finally on the right side of the sheet one can see a depiction of Bairro Alto district of Lisbon. Between the stamps are drawings of the Chateau St Georges, Elevador Santa Justa and two Azulejos, a typical form of Portuguese painted, tin-glazed, ceramic tilework.

Although the souvenir sheet is a little bit torn, I still like it very much. The postmarks on the sheet are very clear. It is rather strange that on each stamps of the sheet, there are datestamp postmark of two different dates, 28 Nov and 29 Nov.
