The Commercial Press, established in Shanghai on 11 February 1897, is the first modern publishing house in China. Since its inception, it has published more than 50,000 varieties of books, including many publications with far-reaching influences such as Etymology, Xinhua Dictionary, Modern Chinese Dictionary and Oxford Advanced Learner's English-Chinese Dictionary, as well as book series "World Academic Classics in Chinese Version" and "Chinese Modern Academic Classics"
