The Sõru (Sõrro) leading lights are situated on the southeast coast of Hiiumaa at 487 meters from each other. The history of the Sõru lights started about a hundred years ago when numerous timber lighthouses and day lights were put up, including the first lights to mark the shipping route from Väinameri to Sõru port. In 2014 the Sõru leading lights will be 80 years old.

The European Rhinoceros Beetle (Oryctes nasicornis) is one of two species of the subfamily Dynastinae (Coleoptera: Scarabaeidae), which lives mainly throughout the tropics, living in Slovakia.

Stag Beetle (Lucanus cervus) is our largest and most massive beetle. It is characterized by very conspicuous sexual dimorphism. Males grow up to a length of 90 mm, while females grow up to approximately 50 mm.

The Slovak National Uprising (SNP) of 1944 represents one of the greatest armed anti-fascist events taking place during the years of the World War II.

The postage stamp is based on the impressive work of the academic sculptor Jozef Jankovič from 1969, “Obete varujú” (Victims warn us), being a part of the SNP memorial in Banská Bystrica. The memorial silhouette is included in the special postmark. A motive of the first day cover is the town castle in Banská Bystrica and includes also the coat of arms of the town.
