World Post Day - Postal Museum Vyšší Brod

Postal Museum Vyšší Brod is a Postal Museum´s branch located in Vyšší Brod, a small town in South Bohemia about 200 km far from Prague, close to the Austrian border. Its exposition extends over the vast area of the former Cistercian monastery. Visitors can enjoy a large exposition of postal history in Bohemia, Moravia and Silesia, starting from 1526 until now, covering an area of about 1,800 m², with the largest collection of 19th century carriages and coaches in the Czech Republic, vintage postal uniforms, post office signs, mail and letter boxes, samples of correspondence, old writing utensils, franking and cancelling machines, reconstructions of 18th and 20th century post offices, telegraph, teleprinter, and telephone machines. At the same time visitors can admire late Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque interiors.
