The National Museum of China (NMC) is located on the east side of Tianammen Square in Beijing, facing the Great Hall of the People. Its predecessor was the Preparatory Office of the National Museum of History, established on 9 July 1912. It covers a floor space of nearly 200,000 square meters and houses a collection of 1.2 million cultural relics and artworks.
