Villem Reiman (1861-1917) was an outstanding Estonian public figure – historian, journalist, ardent speaker for the idea of independence, promoter of temperance and the establishment of societies, honorary alumnus of the Estonian Student Society, originator of the fundamental principles of the Estonian Evangelical Lutheran Church, paver of the way to independence and its cultural development. As member of the Estonian Student Society, Reiman took part in the consecration of the blue, black and white flag on 4 June in St Mary’s of Otepää and in 1886 became chairman of the society. In 1887 he graduated from Tartu University as a candidate of divinity and began working as clergyman at Kolga-Jaani in 1989, and from late 1890 as minister. When the Estonian national movement fell to its nadir, Reiman along with persons who shared his ideas (Oskar Kallas, Heinrich (Henrik) Koppel) bought the newspaper Postimees and asked Jaan Tõnisson to become its editor-in-chief. Reiman also had an important role as a hobby historian, writing the first more or less scholarly overview of the history of Estonia; until that time only foreigners had published their visions of the situation in the country.

The Liangzhu Culture was a Neolithic culture based in Liangzhu, Zhejiang Province, with an area of influence extending around Taihu Lake in the lower reaches of the Yangtze River. It is world-renowned for a plethora of unearthed jade artifacts, the most prominent of which are jade Cong (cylinders) and jade Bi (discs). Jade Cong, considered the most innovative of the Liangzhu jade culture, had a wider influence than any of its counterparts of its time. Such an object is square outside but cylindrical inside and features a design of a deity with an animal face carved with stunningly exquisite techniques that were rivaled by none in the following ages. Jade Bi, a kind with the largest quantity of excavation among Liangzhu jade artifacts, historically symbolized its owner's identity, social status and power. Objects of this kind generally have a smooth surface and rarely bear carvings or symbols, conveying certain sacred connotations.

The stamp shows the Lamb of God – Agnus Dei with topping of whipped egg whites. FDC pictures the Easter chicks of egg whites with chocolate-butter cream decorated with marzipan, which also fall within the broader framework of folk art.
A very nice FDC from Slovak, with the Slovakia Easter stamp of 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011. Thank You very much !

Friedebert Tuglas (2 March 1886 at Ahja - 15 April 1971 in Tallinn) was a writer, critic and translator, who had a leading role in the literary life of the country. He took part in the Russian Revolution of 1905 and since 1906 lived as a political refugee in Finland, Paris, St. Petersburg, Germany, Belgium and Switzerland; since 1917 in Tartu and from 1944 in Tallinn. He was founder of the Siuru literary society, instituted the journals Odamees, Ilo, Tarapita and Looming, was chairman of the Estonian Literary Society and member of several foreign literary and cultural societies and councils. He wrote psychologically tense impressionistic and neo-Romanticist prose, and thanks to his critical writings was one of the most influential trendsetters of new prose. In 1970 he established the Estonian Union of Writers’ short story prize. His house-museum in Tallinn (est. 1971) is now, since 1993, the Under and Tuglas Literature Centre.
