Estonian Mushrooms - the Brown Roll-Rim

The brown roll-rim (Paxillus involutus) is a common mushroom in Estonia, it can be found from June to November. Brown roll-rim poisoning has caused several deaths in Europe. After eating these mushrooms, antibodies that attack red blood cells form in the human body. This immunohemolytic anemia can be compared to allergies. The incubation period of brown roll-rim can last from a few hours to a couple of years. These mushroom are especially dangerous as their poison is not expelled from the body with faeces, instead it accumulates in the body. People have different reactions to the mushroom. Consuming brown roll-rims can lead to death. Boiling or cooking do not make the mushrooms edible.

On the cover, I just affixed 2.5 Patacas stamps out of the normal postage of 3 Patacas. You can see the round-shaped T 0.50/3.00 chop from Macau. The postage due is thus: ((0.5 / 3) x 2.3) + 4 = HK$4.4.

Zhang Qian (164 - 114 B.C.), with a courtesy name of Ziwen, was born in Chenggu County, Shaanxi Province, China), Hanzhong. He twice served as an imperial envoy to the Western Regions. During the two expeditions to the Western Regions, Zhang Qian and his entourage went by Dayuan, Kangqu, Dayuezhi, Daxia, Yutian, and the others, traveling throughout Central Asia and West Asia, and envoys sent by Zhang Qian reached as far as the northern part of the Roman Empire around the Mediterranean.
