NT$5 stamp: The little girl cups her father’s cheek in her tiny hands. The deep love between the father and the daughter is strongly felt through this simple gesture of affection.

NT$7 stamp: Against the backdrop of soft hues, the mother and the son lock gazes, silently communicating their profound love for each other.

NT$10 stamp: The parents plant loving kisses on the cherubic cheeks of their small child. The tenderness expressed in the pastel colors promises to touch hearts.

NT$12 stamp: The small grandchild enjoys being doted on by his grandparents. The overlaying yet contrastive color pallet bespeaks the intimate bond among the trio.

125th Birth Anniversary of F.A. Zander

Friedrich Zander (1887 - 1933), was born in Riga, Russian Empire, into a Baltic German family. He was often transliterated Fridrikh Arturovich Tsander, was a pioneer of rocketry and spaceflight in the Russian Empire and the Soviet Union. He designed the first liquid-fuelled rocket to be launched in the Soviet Union, GIRD-X, and made many important theoretical contributions to the road to space.

Palaces of Latvia - Ungurmuiža

The new stamp depicts the Ungurmuiža manor house. The FDC depicts a part of the Ungurmuiža wall painting created by the Limbaži painter G.D. Hinšs – a grenadier who until this very day is faithfully guarding the door of his commander. The special cancellation depicts the clock built into the manor’s garret.

The Ungurmuiža manor house lies within the territory of the Gauja National Park, in Raiskums parish. It comprises a harmonious complex of 18th century wood buildings, which has an important place among the cultural monuments of Latvia. It was built in 1732 by baron von Campenhausen as a family home, and no other baroque wood buildings have been preserved in Latvia with similarly rich wall paintings.

This stamp issue features the Cretaceous dinosaurs of the Mesozoic Era.The Cretaceous Period, spans from about 145 million years ago to 65 million years ago.

Pachycephalosaurus
As an herbivorous dinosaur known as a dome-headed dinosaur, it is characterized by very thick skull that resembled a dome. Pachycephalosaurus lived in U.S. and Canada, grew to be about 8 meters long and weighted 1~2 tons.

Tyrannosaurus
As a carnivorous dinosaur of the late Cretaceous period, it is one of the most frightening and fiercest dinosaurs. Tyrannosaurus lived in U.S. and Canada, grew up to 10~14 m long and weighted 4.5~7 tons.

Oviraptor
As an omnivorous dinosaur of the Cretaceous Period, Oviraptor was named “egg stealer” and characterized by a crest on its skull. Oviraptor was 1.5~2.5 m long and weighted 25~35 kg, which has been found in Mongolia.

Protoceratops
As an herbivore of the late Cretaceous Period, Protoceratops is characterized by a large skull with a frill comparable to its body size. Protoceratops lived in Mongolia and China, was 1.8 m long and weighted 150 kg.

This year, the beautiful ship NRP (Navio da República Portuguesa = Portuguese Navy Ship) Sagres celebrates 50 years of service to the Portuguese Navy and 75 years of life. The ship Sagres was built in the shipyards of Blohm and Voss in Hamburg in 1937. In 1961 it was acquired by Portugal in order to replace an old ship named Sagres. Her name comes from the Sagres Cape, the site of the world's first marine school, established by Prince Henry the Navigator in the 15th century. For the last 50 years at the service of Portugal and the Portuguese Navy Sagres has conducted three voyages around the world and visited 385 ports. She is known as an Itinerant Ambassador to the service of Portugal and is a symbol of Portugal in the world.

The ship NTM (Navio de Treino de Mar) Creoula, four-masted schooner, marks the anniversary of its construction in 1937 in the shipyards of the CUF and 25 years at the service of the Portuguese Navy as the training Ship for sea.
