The Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2012.

KOTRA was being established in June 1962. It served as front line commandos in the export competition in the 1960s, and in the 1970s to 1980s, as vanguard pioneers exploring the Eastern European markets. After the Asian financial crisis in the late 1990s, KOTRA expanded its aim to attract foreign direct investment into Korea as well.

Currently, KOTRA provides infrastructure and support for the globalization and overseas entry of Korean businesses through 119 branch offices in 81 countries. Two commemorative stamps are issued, featuring the “KOTRA 50th anniversary emblem” and the “KOTRA’s headquarters.”

On the grounds of a village founded by some Kosa, a new town called Košice grew rapidly. The town was growing and getting richer, but powerful aristocrats Amade from the Aba family did not like it. They robbed merchants heading to Košice, and they even plundered in the town itself.

The young king Charles Robert of Anjou stood up for the citizens of Košice and commanded the nobility of Eastern Slovakia to gather under the royal flags. Amades also gained a powerful ally – the biggest magnate in Slovakia, Matthew Czak of Trenčín and his armies. The battle between these two armies took place on the plain near the village Rozgony (today Rozhanovce) near Košice on 15th June 1312. This bloody battle caused heavy casualties among knights on both sides, but the royal army defeated the rebel army. This momentous event was also painted by a painter who illustrated the Illuminated Chronicle after 1370. He depicted the defeat of Amades and armies of Matthew Czak of Trenčín by the falling of the flag with the historical symbol of Slovakia – double cross on three hills. This picture served as a theme for the stamp.

The issue of International Children’s Day (ICD) was chosen from the national competition of students from twenty Secondary Schools of Arts, five more schools with 28 unique designs joined the contest, as well.

In the category of stamp art design, the winner is Radka Hudoková from Secondary School of Arts of Ladislav Bielik in Levice. Her colorful illustration of the cake with burning candles symbolizes not only the celebrations connected with the International Children’s Day, but it is also an appropriate motive for a stamp for greeting cards. In the category FDC and Cartes Maximum (CM), the winner is Ivana Javorníková from Private Secondary Art School of Design, Bratislava. She presented unique design based on the composition of various multicolored animal figures, creating an ICD abbreviation on the CM. The work of Petra Mihalechová from Private Secondary Art School of Design, Bratislava was finally chosen for the FDC stamp, representing children’s favorite animal – a cat.

To celebrate the hundred-year anniversary of the first specially protected nature area in Latvia - the Moricsala Nature Reserve, a special envelope and postmark are issued on June 6 - the day of founding of the Moricsala Nature Reserve.

The special envelope and postmark depict a specimen of the rare lucanid beetle Ceruchus chrysomelinus - this species has been entered in the list of specially protected animals, and the Moricsala Nature Reserve is one of the few places where it is found in Latvia. The envelope's slogan is "Observe, learn, protect!"

The 30th Olympic Summer Games will take place from July 27 until August 12 in London. For the first time London was the scene of the Olympic Games in 1908 and then in 1948 after World War II. There will be 10,500 athletes from 205 world countries taking part in this year’s Olympic Games with 21,000 media representatives to cover the events and 8.8. million tickets to be sold. The best-known members of the Estonian Olympic team will be Gerd Kanter, the 2008 Olympic winner in discus, Nikolai Novosyolov, the 2011 epee fencing world champion, and Heiki Nabi, the 2006 world champion in Greco Roman wrestling.

10P : GAZ-AA
GAZ-AA was a light truck. It was the Ford Model AA (NAZ-AA). In 1933, the factory's name changed from NAZ to Gorkovsky Avtomobilny Zavod, or GAZ and the model was renamed GAZ-AA.

12P : ZIS-5V
The ZIS-5V was a 4x2 Soviet truck produced by Moscow ZIS factory. It was produced since May 1942 in Ulyanovsk, and later also in Moscow and Miass.

14P : GAZ-67B
The GAZ-67 and the subsequent GAZ-67B were general purpose four wheel drive Soviet military vehicles built by GAZ starting in 1943.

15p : GAZ-M1
GAZ M1 was based largely on the four cylinder version of the Ford Model B, produced from 1936 to 1942. The M letter stands for Molotovets ('of Molotov's fame'), it was the origin of the car's nickname, M'ka (Эмка).

The year 2012 marks the 70th anniversary of 'Talks at the Yanan Forum on Literature and Art'. In May 1942, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) held a forum on literature and art in Yanan, Shaanxi Province. At the forum, Mao Zedong made a conclusion speech, which clarified the orientation of "(literature and art) serving the broad masses, particularly workers, peasants and soldiers". The "Talks" carried forward the essence of left-wing literature while establishing a new democratic culture. It creatively solved the problem of popularization and nationalization of literature and art since the May 4th Movement.

2nd Place in the World Ice Hockey Championship 2012

The team was leaving for the Finnish capital to the 76th WIHC and fight for the direct advancement to the Winter Olympics in Sochi 2014. Although they lost against Russians 2:6 in the finals but the second place is a great success.

After the two initial losses with Canada (2:3) and Finland (0:1) the Slovak representatives would start up and will show a several-match series without a loss. This was launched against the USA (4:2). The same result in the fourth duel with Kazakhstan, and then against Belarus (5:1). They entered the best eight after a narrow triumph over the Swiss 1:0. The quarterfinal dream came true and moreover, direct advancement to the Olympics was also secured.

In the quarterfinal, the Slovak team encounter against Canada winning 4:3 and the victory of 3:1 over the Czech Republic and advancement into the final. The tiredness reflected on the Slovak team in this match and the world champion trophy was lifted up by the Russian hockey players.
